Ciirulis

Ciirulis designs exclusive, handmade outdoor furniture for private residences, boutique hotels, resort complexes and upscale restaurants worldwide. Every piece is built by designer Raimonds Cīrulis from volcanic basalt fiber — a technique he pioneered and holds patent-pending rights to — engineered to withstand sun, frost, snow and rain. The collection extends into bog oak, carbon-dated at 3,500 to 5,000 years old, and hand-blown glass, worked into tables, lamps and objects alongside the signature hanging nest chairs.

On location in Riga and Cēsis

Each finished piece has to reach its client almost as soon as it leaves the workshop, so there's rarely time to plan a shoot around it. We photographed the furniture on location — in gardens, on terraces, wherever it was headed next — working around that turnaround rather than against it.
